Roosters and Chickens

Last night I went to my Back to Basics class and it was on Poultry.    I didn't know there are 2 types of chickens one is a meat type and one is a egg type.   One thing that surprised me was that  poultry consumption  in the U.S. will surpass all red meat consumption by 2018.  I thought that was a surprise but my  Hubby said he heard that.   I didn't know that egg chickens can live to product eggs for several  like 12 or 13 and maybe older.    One thing I like about fresh eggs are the color of the yolks and that the yolks stand up when you fry them.  I love to look at chickens they have such beautiful colors and I paint them and roosters below is one of my roosters.
I hadn't posted in  a week though maybe I had better started to write again.  
Weather is looking up .  The calves are coming every day  so far so good

    That is a great painting! I too have always liked how colorful some chickens are.

    I see a whole lot of attitude in that feathered face! Glad he's on the other side of the coop from me! Going to the Brown Bag on the 14th? I hope to make it and maybe see you there!
