"BEAT THE PEAK"

This is a subject that is dear to my heart. How is that? I am a Director at our local REMC and we are asking our members to "Beat the Peak". With out allot of explanation if you would google these words it will explain what it is all about. Saving energy!!!! It tells what a Delaware electric is doing you can check out your local Rural Electric Company which by the way is member owned it is a coop.

If you can use less power we wouldn't have to build as many power plants to make new energy By raising the thermostate a couple of degree on your air conditioning don't use major appliance like dishwasher, dryer, washer or oven during peak times 4pm to 8pm only hot days.

We can either save by using less or pay more in the end.

My subject for today
Our county fair starts tomorrow Have a great day

No Pictures Just talk

Today was a real busy day. We were gone for most of the day. We went to Purdue at Lafayette to the Master Farmers Program. Hubby is a Master Farmer and it is a privilege to be of that elite group of farmers. You can read all about it in this months Prairie Farmer Magazine.

Stopped by the Boone County Fair on the way home. Donnie and Tammy Lawson were cooking rib-eyes to serve in the Bee-Hive which is where they serve food. Homemakers serve the food was really nice set-up.
The steaks are cooked on a large grill behind the building.

We traveled 39 through Danville In. Went by Mayberry's Cafe so we had our supper there. It is a take off from The Andy Griffith Show and they have the police car parked at the curb outside the front door. The TV sets are playing Andy Griffith Show. Step back in time

Hope everyone had a good day.

explanation of pictures

There are some of the pictures that I am working on WOW . Now I need to remember how I did that.
These are pictures I took last year in my garden. I raised some milk weed that the Monarch laid eggs on and the worms hatched they ate their way to becoming beautiful butterflies. It only takes 25 to 29 days for this cycle.
I took a class in June from DNR to help educate myself so I can do a better job.

Monarch Monitoring

Where are all my bloging classmates go

On July 13 I took a blogging class at the Indiana Soybean office. I thought this is crazy at my age what would I have to talk about.
What I want to know is where are the gals that took the class I went into all the blogs from our list and some have never posted and others have posted the day of the class. Right now all I am doing is posting words but I am taking pictures for future posts. I will figure out the picture thing. We have an advanced class coming up in Aug and I hope to see you all there.
I know life and work get in the way of Blogging. Once you get started it is fun. I enjoy reading other blogs
Hope next time I surf the blogging community I will find you there!!!!!!

Rain Helicopters Salesman

What do these 3 things have in common They were part of my day yesterday.
We had more rain showers which is a good thing.
The helicopter that is what sprayed the corn crop yesterday. It flew over and over the farm until dark. It was amazing to watch the pilot land on a small platform that they pull around with the spray truck to reload with spray. We had waited several days for him to show you are on the waiting list. There are a lot of farmers using this in our area.
Last but not least it was 8:45 pm and I had a friendly salesman show up at my door. What was he selling a Kirby sweeper Well I already own one don't need more than one Kirby to clean my house. It does a good job but heavy good thing it has a drive petal
State Fair projects are due in the weekend I had better get everything tagged and ready to go.

Rain makes grain

We finally got a little rain maybe enough to take the edge off the stressed plants. The pastures are still green but it doesn't take long for they to go brown. You want some growth going into August which is always the driest months for us. We usually have to move cattle from one pasture to the other and sometimes feed hay. It has been a good year for hay. Can never have too much.

Still working on those Roosters and Rabbits for the fairs.

This year as before I will have some of my gourds in the FFA Country Market at the State Fair.
FFA sells a lot of merchandise at the state fair from food, lotions, gourds and many other products all of these are made in Indiana. Maybe this helps off set some of their expenses.

Painting Painting Painting

This weekend has been spent getting ready for my sister who is coming from Nevada to spend a few days with us. Seems like there is always something to do when company comes so I will take her and her husband along. We will go to the Speedway on Friday and Sat we have our Queen contest for our County Fair. Always fun to see who will get to be Queen we have 16 girls this year.

I am trying to get a few more pieces painted for our space in the merchants Bldg at the County Fair. Our Fair runs the 1st week August.
We run into the State Fair not a good thing for the 4-H projects animals or indoor projects. Last year was the 1st year for the State Fair new schedule. We make it through that so I guess we just hang in there and see where this goes. There are a few other fairs that have this problem Good luck to all 4-H exhibitors.
When I get the hang of it I will post pictures I had better take some so I will have them to post.

Thank you Leontien for this award
I need to hire some one to teach me how to cut and paste and down load pictures.
Sure could use some rain in our area it is very dry and the corn is showing some signs of drought.
Will continue to work to make this a better blog.

Roosters and rabbits

Two of my favorite thing to paint. I am working on getting some art work pictures painted to enter in the State Fair. Only a couple of weeks to go You have to pre-enter in Indiana but you are allowed a choice as long as you stay in the same category
