Birding

I put sunflower seed in the birdbath will turn it back over before it rains
Just want to talk about my birds friendly ones and the hawk who wants to eat my birds for lunch.  I know that is the way nature works but I don't like to go out and see red feathers  he could at least pick a brown one.  I have been feeding for a long time many years so I have a large following of many different colored birds.  I have taken lots of pictures but the Nuthatch and the Chickadee are the fastest of them trying to take their picture is like catching a speeding train.
I feel we might have a early spring as the Finches are turning red and yellow.   I am glad we have had the zero temperature  maybe we will have less mosquitoes and insects that hover in your face.   Sometimes it was hard to have a conversation outside without waving your hand or your hat.
Stay warm and take care

Cardinal

This tree has a split down the middle and the REMC came and  trimmed off some of the weight lots of the birds fly that way when they leave the feeder.  There are crevices  for them to nest.

This is for all the people who are talking about receiving their seed catalogs

Woodpeckers

I really like the birds in my yard and sometimes I worry about them if they are warm enough  if the winds blows real hard are they able to fly.  All kinds of things go through my brain.  These are 2 woodpeckers that have been visiting me a long time in fact years.    There seems to be something they hear or are bothered by in these pictures as they turn their heads.   I didn't see any hawks or a lot of other birds but they are on the look out for something.    Hope you get to enjoy the birds amazing how something that small can stay alive.  When we had the snow the birds were busy at the feeders now the weather broke and they can get out and get something else to eat.
This week the river was out of its banks and still is out.   In fact covered some of our fields with four feet of water.  There were about 30 geese moved in didn't take them long.  There is plenty of water to go around
 Stay warm, dry and well.

I had mentioned before about a young lady who had been fighting a battle with cancer her name was Leontien didn't know her well but she was in my prayers every day.  Leontien owned a dairy farm with her family  in Indiana.  She will be missed Gods love to her family and Happy Birthday to Leontien

Rooster and Fair Convention

Rooster

This rooster was in the silent auction I fell in love with him the first time I saw him and I had to work to get him home and be the last bidder.  A lot of you know Larry Vandenberg he had a bidding war going on with another person I don't think he wanted the rooster but just had fun fueling the fire because he new I wanted to take this fellow home.    The rooster is 44 inches tall and the base is 20 inches across.  He will be in my garden this summer

The weather is changing but I am sure there is a lot more winter on the horizon Just a little warmer the next few days.
