Walking on my County Road

Golden rod  I think is beautiful and I like the smell  looks pretty with purple asters

 Nice crisp morning no meetings no place to go but enjoy a quite morning.  Went for a walk on the county road and these are some of the things I saw.   Harvest hasn't started  for us yet, but will soon.
I hope my readers will please answer some of my questions marks
I know harvest has started for a lot of farm families so please be patient with the moving of equipment

WoolKeepers Hook-In

 This is a wool show and sale it was held in Camby In  There is a church camp that they rent out for multi purposes and there are even rooms that you may stay overnight we had ladies from as far as New York.  I took these pictures and I don't think they are as good as my camera.  Too busy thinking about the show and what needed to be done.

Butterflies are Free

This little fellow was in my Kitchen window just had to take his picture sorry about the screen

Yes Butterflies are free,  free to fly as far as they can, high and low.  The other day I took these pictures and then went and looked  up butterfly information.    How the male and female are different just the way birds in color and size but when I came to the Swallowtail and found that there 4 different colors of females I was got  but I guess that is life full of  surprises.   I had an invitation from Birds and Bloom Mag. to review   Well I have some of their magazines and if they would like to send me one I would be happy to take it  I paint several birds during the years time.  Nice magazine with lots of great pictures for the artist in me.    
Today I have been trying to get some Halloween painted as we have a show on Sept 7 at Camby Indiana at the Woolkeepers Hook-in (we are a group of rug hookers)  It is on Camby Rd  at the Baptist Church Camp. 
We did get .10 of rain last night not much but better than none.  Hope for cooler weather and for  you to have a safe Labor Day.

Migration has started

 I cannot believe all the birds that are on the grain bins and guide wires.  I would hate to have to climb up there today. 
Not sure where this Heron came from but found her in the pasture just walking around  as I moved closer she flew toward the tree line haven't seen her since.
I  am glad to have my life back to normal the fair is always exciting and new things happening but as they say No place like Home.   We could use some rain to help the soybeans fill,  the ground is very dry.  Going to mow this evening the grass is still growing.

These are some of my Beefheart tomatoes raised and sold by Cox's Plant farm.  They really are heart shaped and have very few seeds

I am another beautiful sunflower

Of all the sunflowers this fellow is standing out in his field.  Don't think the flower will get much larger The building you see in the background is the old summer kitchen which is attached to the main house we  couldn't bear to tear it off so when we bricked the house it got a face lift also.  Part of it still has a dirt floor.

Oh My!!!

How some excitement at the barn.   You maybe remember we had a lot of work done on two of our barns last fall.  The fellow that works with us went out to feed a cow  we had in the barn and low and below he saw the loft had fallen to the floor of the barn.  No it didn't fall on her.  We called the gentleman  that worked on the barn he was there the next morning and it went back up in about 4 hrs. Had  lots of loose hay on the floor took the square baler out and baled it back up. Farmers don't waste hay.

This is the way my flower garden grows.  I have this all around my house some my think it is weeds but the butterflies and bees enjoy

Since the Great Indiana State Fair is going on this year I entered some antiques  This is my  Mother -in-law's quilt she made when she was 13 years old.  She was born in 1904.  Fern had a collection of quilts that I have enjoyed  Going back to the fair tomorrow having supper at the Pioneer Village such a honor.  That is one hard working group of folks no matter what the weather they are always willing to teach a way of life that that we forget took place in yesteryear.  I will sign off with take care.  Praying for a little rain

Ann's Musings

The above picture is at the Farmers Breakfast during the County Fair  it took place at the Beef and Sertoma Bldg.  The Community Foundation is the main sponsor.  At this meeting we announced that the Community Foundation  has applied for a grant to buy 2 Res-Q-Tubes for the farmers in our county there  are several grain bins.  If there is a chance we ever need one we will have it.  There will be a professional trainers come to town and work with our men so they will be trained properly.   If you read this and want to take the training please get a hold of me or Chris at the extension office

Opening Day at the Indiana State Fair .

This beautiful young lady is my new Great Granddaughter Born July 20  she was 9.7 lbs and 22 in long her name is Addison Lee Ann

 I went to mow the other night and to my surprise there are the Naked Ladies.    I had forgotten I moved them to my yard

 These hummers are always on the move while I was taking the picture I was about 3 ft and they were whizzing around just was hoping they didn't run into me.

There were four of them that would grab a drink and fly away

Look who is eating my sunflower seed.   Refilled the feeder but I feel they will continue because they are softer this picture was taken from inside so that is the reason for the color  as the one below.

I have several new plants that I hope will mature and produce a head so they will have more fresh seeds

The State Fair will start this week it is exciting but also a lot of work   I will have several painted gourds in the FFA bldg at their Country Store.   They have a nice Country Store if you have time to stop in and look around.

Farm report   Baling more hay got a couple of 100 square bales for the barns.  Bush hogging around fields and spraying some weeds. Pastures are still in good shape,  Indiana crops look healthy and we are getting that needed rain.
