Stars and Stripes Election Year

It is election year and all you have to do is pick up a newspaper or turn on the radio or TV  the air ways are full of people talking  about each other instead of them self.   You as the voter must make a decision.    I will leave it at that

Farm report: We had a couple more calves  they are so darn cute.   Field work is going great guns working long hours but getting that corn in the ground. Expecting a much needed rain the next few days
Take care until next time

Spring flowering trees

Our ornamental flowering crab tree is beautiful and after the flowers leave there are tiny red berries that the birds love.   The wind was blowing when I took this picture and if it rains tonight it will probably be bare by tomorrow.    See the below picture they petals are all over the ground makes it look like snow.
Farm report:  We started planting corn yesterday they will stay with it until it rains, long hours.  The life of a farmer, the love of the job.   I will leave with that.
Take care until next time.

Operation Pollination

As some of you know I am a co-owner  of Berries and Ivy.  We are located in Martinsville, In. on the downtown square.
One of the company's we do business with The Naked Bee  gave 20,000 packets of seed in 2015  to help with the bee pollination  and are doing it again.     We are giving away seed packets on April 23 and 10 percent discount on Naked Bee products.  We need bees to pollinate our crops.

Farm report:  I have seen very little of the guys, they stop by the scales to weigh the anhydrous tanks.  Working ground and still having a calf or two a day,  we will be done for the spring  but will have a few later this year  Can't beat this weather
Take care until next time

Flowering Crabapple

These 2 woodpeckers stayed on opposite side of the tree from 15 minutes I wasn't sure if they were asleep or just playing cat and mouse.  I believe this is a Red-bellied Woodpecker. This was in the rain today it doesn't stop birds from feeding they will continue even in some of the winds we have had.

This crab apple tree is an ornamental and with the weather we have had I am surprised it is blooming.  One of the prettiest trees in our yard my men folk want to cut it down because it is too close to the house..

Farm report:  Got to apply Anhydrous on Sunday and then the rain came and it has rained all night the rain cage  reports 1.40 since midnight.  It rained from 6 pm until 12 but I don't have that figure   The yard, streams and the  White river is showing higher than normal water.
Surprise another set of twins.
Take care and stay on high ground water is coming up.

Enjoying the birds

My daughter and I have a home decor store on the square in Martinsville In   These are a few of the items we carry.  We have several pictures that are country scenes.   You can  do a virtual tour of our store google Berries and Ivy.
I love to watch the birds this woodpecker entertained me this week   I think he was looking for bugs in the feeder
Farm news we are having a calf or 2 every day.  We got to the field and applied some Anhydrous on this week.  Applied fertilizer where needed and also hauled some grain to the city.    It is the time of year where you can get behind real quick.  Take care and be careful
Hairy or Downy the bill is longer on the Hairy Woodpecker??
