Time Flies

 Time flies when you are having fun and living life as it comes by.  Above is my new tree  and Zeus (I am running the water and he wants to get a drink)  That replaces the large spruce tree that died and only the top was still alive.  My son offered to replace it with this shrub which is a Weigela  it has a purple flower and variegated leaves  it will work well if it survives the transplanting.   My neighbor wanted to get rid of it.

This is  the spruce tree  I have enjoyed this tree outside  my kitchen window for  25 years and the birds used it every year for their nests.  I will  miss it but  there is a time for everything.

My Grandson ask me why there were so many nails in these boards that are the side of an old crib that sits 8 feet or so from the road.  Jim's Dad told me that many years ago our road was the way to Martinsville they passed by the crib and everyone who had a notice to hang nailed it to the side of the crib.    Like advertisements  when the circus came to town.  Some of the nails have a little ring from the sign.        

 

                                                                         

  

 

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      

 

 

Baby Animals

 This week sure did fly by.  I am still trapping caught 2 more the one above was very small maybe I would guess a baby.  When I let him out  he turned around hissed and chased me back to the truck.  My son said he wanted to go back home with me.  Good Chance!!  Below on Saturday while moving cattle to another pasture and cutting some hemlock plants so the cows don't eat them and found this little baby maybe a  few days old. 
 Went to Paragon to pick up Pizza the other night and when I was almost to my driveway I could see ahead 4 little black behinds strutin' up the road.   Made a call home to the guys to come get them back in the fence  I was blocking the way so they couldn't go toward the highway.   All this new fence and they get out.  The county replaced a bridge last year and put in a sewer tile that a  grownup could walk through that is how they walked out.
Well been getting a shower now and then but not much.    Hope it willl add up over the week

Trapping Again

No Holiday for this fellow I took him to the forestry a couple of days ago.  Tonight I was in my studio and here is another right outside the window in a tree  not sure what he is after but I hope he leaves tonight.  I have a trap set in the barn lot never know which way they walk.  Don't want my dogs to get into a fight with him. 

I watched the parade on TV tonight sure looked warm.  Most people enjoy parades any kind and the 500 is one of the best. 

Flowers for my sister

 My younger sister is coming in tonight from LasVegas.   So I thought I would send my other sister in Ca some flowers.  I hope you all enjoy the flowers.  The crops are planted  most of the hay is cut and baled and now we wait on the wheat.  It is very dry  here  we could sure use some rain that .10 of an inch didn't go very far.  It sure is hard to believe we got all the hay up and it is only the 23 of May.

Busy Fridays

 Last night I planted my tomato plants.   I planted 10 of them  Hope they survive this cold spell.  I decided to not plant green beans and visit my local farmers market each week and see what they have to offer. It is a lot of work to plant and weed a garden.

The picture below is a full house.  I went around the house to fill the bird feeders and there they were all four eggs hatched and it is crowded in the nest.  Today when I went to check on my tomatoes there was one just  jumping in the grass trying to get away.  Hoping my dogs don't bother them.

Warmer weather

 Well it has been warm for the last few days I guess  that is good the corn is all in but not all up.  Hoping for no surprises in the weather as we had a hard time getting enough corn to plant.   Everyone  around us are planting corn or soybeans the planters are on the move.  We had a few wet days and couldn't plant.
You know I like to paint on things and not canvas  This is a picnic basket and now it can be used for magazines or to store anything.

Tuesday  is election day in Indiana it is very important that everyone get out and VOTE every vote counts.  Please go to the polls Senator Lugar need our vote
